The stool is made from welded blocks that interlock. This series originates from the Cut Through Metal Skins collection and the desire for seating during my Dutch Design Week exhibition (which lasts 9 days). In the workshop, various blocks were lying around, still waiting to be transformed into a product. When I pushed them together, it seemed like the perfect solution for sitting during DDW (and saving my legs). I playfully began moving the metal blocks around and added some new paper blocks, which led me to the final form of the stool. Initially, I wanted to add holes to the stool – like in the Cut Through Metal Skins collection. But when the stool returned from the welder, it was already complete. The visible welded seams gained the attention they deserved, and the interlocking blocks created intriguing volumes and voids.
