Metal Skin Cabinet

2017

“The Metal Skin Cabinet, where industrial design meets authenticity”

In collaboration with a sheet metal machining factory Job van den Berg developed Metal Skins. Metal Skins are created by forging a material surface and sheet metal together under high pressure. Besides an appealing texture the industrial pressing process adds strength, tactility, character and individuality.

The Metal Skin Cabinet shows the texture of wood grain, which Job achieved by forging wood veneer and sheet metal under high pressure. This process creates a unique texture adding character and individuality to each object.

This cabinet is the improved version of Job’s graduation project during the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2015 (see the graduation cabinet in this link).
